
Hon. Claire I. Weinberg
HON. CLAIRE I. WEINBERG served as an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Nassau County, from 2002 until her retirement on December 31, 2005. She was an elected member of the judiciary, both as a Nassau County Court Judge and a District Court Judge, since 1991. During her tenure on the bench, Judge Weinberg was involved in dozens of settlement conferences and settlement resolutions of civil cases. She made extensive use of her ADR skills as a Judge during her 15 years on the bench, and won high praise from members of the Nassau County bar for using innovative resolution techniques.
Prior to being elected to the courts, Judge Weinberg was in private practice specializing in criminal defense and Family Court matters. She was also an Assistant District Attorney in Nassau County and was a law assistant for Judge Fuchsberg, at the New York Court of Appeals.
Judge Weinberg graduated from Hofstra Law School and Queens College. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Nassau County Bar Association. She was also chair of the Nassau County Judicial Committee of Women in the Courts and has been active in numerous civic and judicial associations in New York State.
